Nhl 2005 Pc Game EXCLUSIVE
NHL 2005 features Open Ice Control, including moving players without the puck and also a complete World Cup mode where each team can be created from scratch. The user was now allowed to import digitized home arenas for the scratchbuilt teams (the 30 NHL arenas plus Nuremberg Arena, Kölnarena, Stockholm Globe Arena, Helsinki Hartwall Areena and Prague Sazka Arena were available). Additional NHL jerseys and logos were also available including those of the defunct Atlanta Flames, Winnipeg Jets, Colorado Rockies (NHL), Quebec Nordiques as well as the old style Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals and Vancouver Canucks uniforms of the 1970s and the 1980s.

The IIHF license which granted the World Cup mode also allowed EA to use real-life international jerseys for the only time (previously released games used unique jerseys designed by the game's staff which only bore a passing similarity to their real life counterparts, so the jersey shows their flag.) The PC version of the game was stripped down to the bare essentials, including the omitting of the create-a-player feature. These omissions were possibly due to the labour dispute that season, but EA explained that they had not perfected the new create-a-player interface, which would have allowed for far greater customizability than what was previously available.

Drew: When I think of classic NHL songs, this song stands out as the most memorable. Maybe its because I was 7 years old and NHL 2002 was the first video game I owned, but this is the song just is so nostalgic to anyone who grew up playing EA NHL video games. Punk rock was the genre of choice in the earlier games, and Gob was featured prominently in many of the early soundtracks. This is one of my favourite songs on the playlist.
Drew: Many people know Jimmy Eats World for their hit song The Middle, but Sweetness is another solid song from the same album. NHL 2003 is kind of a forgotten game in the series, but it was a solid installation, especially the ability to go slow-mo on breakaways.
Drew: The best NHL video game of all-time had a solid soundtrack. These two songs standout above the rest. Oh Ellin is another classic from Gob, and Clockwork by Autopilot off was a great song that was also featured on the SSX3 Snowboarding video game.
Drew: One of my favourite songs of all-time, and the first time I heard it was on NHL 2005. This song is incredible, the definitive NHL video game song, the true highlight of this playlist.
Drew: This game introduced the skill stick and also an aggressive playlist headlined by these two songs. Red Flag is another great punk rock song from a Canadian band. Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold is just a banger.
Drew: Two solid songs from the latest game; the soundtrack improved dramatically from a few down years of NHL soundtracks. Oliver Tree brings back that punk rock sound to the NHL game.

NHLView is the roster editor for EA Sports NHL Hockey series on PC. This is by far my biggest and the most important project. The development started in the year 1999 and back then I could not have foreseen that it will be the main editor used by the online community in the future. In 1999, I was just playing around with the roster files and never planned to release anything to the public. And in fact I did not: NHLView 2000 never came out and you will not find it on this web site. However, it was the foundation of the editor I released the following year for NHL 2001. It enjoyed huge success and I decided to continue releasing editors for EA Sports NHL game. Before NHL 2004, all my editors used the same code that I started in 1999, but with the release of the new NHL game the roster format was drastically changed (improved) and the editor had to be totally rewritten. While I was at it, I decided to adopt the unified architecture so that one editor is required for each NHL game. While the work for integrating the support for older NHL games is ongoing, the current version of NHLView is able to deal with NHL 2002, NHL 2004, NHL 2005, NHL 06, NHL 07, NHL 08 and NHL 09 rosters. If you are looking for the editor for more recent console versions of the game, visit the NHLView NG section.
