This Skills Certificate will prepare students to take the American Welding Society (AWS) certified welding (CW) exams. Students will learn various cutting processes and develop manual skills using FCAW, GTAW, and plasma arc cutting (PAC) processes that comply with AWS standards, including critical safety procedures. Students will learn to fabricate simple parts from basic drawings, sketches, and technical plans. Students must pass all coursework with a score of 75% or higher.

Welders join metals using a variety of techniques and processes. For example, in arc welding they use machinery that produces electrical currents to create heat and bond metals together. Welders usually choose a welding process based on a number of factors, such as the types of metals being joined.

Prerequisites: WELD231B Covers shielded metal-arc welding of pipe, flux core arc welding of pipe and introduction to A.P.I., A.S.M.E., and A.W.S. code certification. Welding of pipe provides training to develop welding skills necessary to produce high quality multipass welds on 6-inch schedule, 80 mild steel pipe in the 6 G positions, using advanced welding processes.

While there is considerable overlap between social and analytical skills, the need for physical skills in combination with social or analytical skills is limited. Most jobs that require higher levels of physical skills, such as carpenters; laundry and dry-cleaning workers; and welding, soldering and brazing workers, do not call for higher levels of social and analytical skills. In 2015, there were 38 million workers employed in jobs requiring only higher levels of physical skills. This number was up only 12% from 1980, when it stood at 34 million.

A thematically based exploration of various approaches, processes and hybrid practices across a broad spectrum of the visual arts. Prer., VA 1010, VA 1020, VA 1030, VA 1040, or permission of instructor.

A thematically based advanced exploration of various approaches, processes and hybrid practices across a broad spectrum of the visual arts as an interdisciplinary practice. Prer., VA 1010, VA 1020, VA 1030, VA 1040, or permission of instructor.

Continuation of VA 2080, with an emphasis on development of student's personal visual language. Covers digital processes as applied to sculptural works, installation and site specificity, with an open approach of experimentation and risk taking. The objective is to establish individualized studio practices that will continue into the post-academic stages of students' artistic practices.

Prerequisite: MECHENG 382. (3 credits) Mathematical modeling of manufacturing processes used in industry to manufacture mechanical systems: machining, deformation, welding, assembly, surface treatment, and solidification processes. Process costs and limits; influence of processes on the final mechanical properties of the product. Reconfigurable manufacturing, Rapid prototyping, Direct Metal Deposition (DMD) and semiconductor manufacturing. (Course Profile)

Prerequisite: MECHENG 382. (3 credits) Study of the mechanism of surface bonding, welding metallurgy, effect of rate of heat input on resulting microstructures, residual stresses and distortion, economics and capabilities of the various processes. (Course Profile)

Prerequisite: senior or graduate standing. (3 credits) Application of lasers in materials processing and manufacturing. Laser principles and optics. Fundamental concepts of laser/material interaction. Laser welding, cutting, surface modification, forming and rapid prototyping. Modeling of processes, microstructure and mechanical properties of processed materials. Transport phenomena. Process monitoring.

In addition to a state-issued license , welders may choose to get additional welding certifications.8 The American Welding Society (AWS), for example, offers a Certified Welder program, which offers many different options for specific welding certifications, such as in SMAW, GMAW or FCAW welding processes.9

Other opportunities can include gaining the skills, experience and advanced welding training to prepare for careers as a robotic weld technician, welding instructor, welding engineer, welding equipment salesperson, pipefitter, iron welder or sheet metal worker.12

Want to work as a welder in Oklahoma? Tulsa Welding School can help you prepare. We offer 3 welding training programs at our Tulsa, Oklahoma, campus. As a welding student, you could have the chance to practice core welding processes: SMAW, MIG and TIG.13 041b061a72
